French as a Foreign Language: Pre-mobility

FOR WHO ?

The French as a Foreign Language Pre-mobility course is aimed at prospective exchange students and international students who intend to enroll in an academic course in Geneva. It is composed of two parts : a four-week online course and a one-week in-class course in Geneva.

French level : complete beginner

 

COURSE DETAILS

The FLE pre-mobility course is aimed at prospective exchange students and international students who intend to enroll in an academic course in Geneva. It provides first class preparation for further studies through a first contact with the French language and also includes an introduction to the academic setting as well as the geographical and socio-cultural environment of French-speaking Switzerland and Geneva. The objectives of the pre-mobility course are twofold:

 

- to provide an introduction to the French language and lay the foundations for a more systematic study later on in the classroom;

- to better understand the academic environment  as well as the geographical and socio-cultural context of the region in order to  successfully settle in Geneva.

 

This course consists of 10 online modules which are taught over four weeks. Each module requires 2-3 hours of online individual learning. This course includes sessions of 30-minute video-conferences in groups of 5 students with a teacher. These sessions will take place according to the time zone of the various geographical areas.

Lesson 3 - Shopping

Lesson 4 - Opening a bank account and making payments

Lesson 5 - Living in a building and living in a shared apartment

Lesson 6 - Searching for accommodation

Lesson 7 - Undertaking administrative procedures

Lesson 8 - Communicating with Teachers

Lesson 9 - Communicating with Students

Lesson 10 - Going out in the evening

 

The online training course will be complemented by a one-week intensive in-class course in Geneva in which students will get the chance to consolidate the language and academic skills as well as the socio-cultural knowledge acquired during the distance learning sessions.

FEES

CHF 430.-

The fee includes the Online and In-class French course (5 weeks in total).
